Synthetic demo — every project, date and name here is fictional. The engine (schedule derivation, dependency cascade, sandbox) is the real system's.

critical path = longest chain of open items by hours left (est_h × (1 − pct/100)); slack = days to due − chain at 2 focus h/day · nominal hours (no calibration pairs yet). A cross-project gate adds the hours left on the predecessor’s chain up to the gated item (transitively, on the path through it) before the project’s own chain starts; the row says “after” which gate binds, and “was” is the slack without that wait. Each chain assumes it has the focus hours to itself, and the predecessor’s own due date plays no part. Open items without est_h count as 0 and are marked “no est” on their own project’s row (9 of the 22 open items on this board, 8 of them ◇ checkpoints). Projects with no due date show their critical path but no slack row.

Computed by the dependency renderer from the same synthetic state the timeline draws. It reads the saved plan, so a drag in the sandbox leaves it unchanged. Tap a project to light it on the timeline.
